Position Title: Field Service Representative (FSR) - Afghanistan, U.S. Central Command


Requires a Secret Security Clearance.  Located in Afghanistan, the FSR maintains, operates, and monitors linear sensor and camera systems at one of several operating base locations in support of U.S. and Coalition Forces in Afghanistan or other designated areas in the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility (AOR).  Under the supervision of the Lead FSR and In-Theater Program Coordinator, works with force protection leadership and staff at the local Base Defense Operations Center equivalent.

Essential functions

Conducts monitoring activities in shifts at the designated operations center.  Works closely with customers to ensure rapid and accurate reporting of significant events, participation in unit staff “battle drills,” and staff update briefings.  Provides equipment capabilities orientation to designated leaders and staff as directed.

Conducts scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, services, and repair of various sensor equipment, cameras, generators, and ancillary equipment.  As required, supports repair, relocation, and splicing of fiber optic cable. If necessary, the FSR supports relocation, reinstallation, or retrograde of linear sensor and camera system equipment at designated locations.

Position involves extensive daily interaction with military units on a variety of levels requiring knowledge of unit operations and command structure to communicate effectively.

Work Location & Conditions

Work location is on U.S. and Coalition Forces Bases located in Afghanistan. Typical work schedule is 10 hours a day, seven days a week, but could vary depending on job requirements.

Overseas deployment term is one year but may be extended or curtailed based on the contract period of performance and employee-company agreement.

  • Must meet all pre-deployment medical, dental, training, and other Continental U.S. Replacement Center (CRC) Fort Bliss, TX requirements.

  • Must be able to immediately travel to Afghanistan.

  • Must also hold an active Secret security clearance.

  • Must hold an active U.S. passport as a condition of employment.

  • This position requires ability to move between various sites in Afghanistan to perform duties.

  • Key competencies required to perform effectively include the ability to: exercise initiative, work independently, clearly communicate with military personnel, analyze military information, coordinate effectively with other staff personnel, prepare reports, and present results/recommendations.


Preference for candidates with the following experience

  • Military experience in communications, intelligence, or combat arms, especially direct experience working in a military operations center.

  • Experience working with fiber-optic communications equipment is also very desirable.
